Florida Reports Huge Overnight Spike in Coronavirus Cases

Florida's number of confirmed coronavirus cases skyrocketed overnight, increasing by nearly 400. The Florida Health Department on Thursday reported a total of 2,355 cases, compared to 1,977 cases reported just one day earlier. That's a 20 percent jump from Wednesday's total. The number of deaths also increased overnight from 23 to 28, according to the state Health Department. Despite the dramatic increase, Governor Ron DeSantis has refused to issue stay-at-home orders, noting that 21 Florida counties have yet to report any confirmed cases. Of the counties that have reported cases, Miami-Dade leads with 616.
