Employee of Wegmans Tests Positive For Coronavirus

An employee of the Perinton Wegmans has tested positive for the coronavirus. According to company officials, the store has been sanitized and cleaned multiple times since the employee last worked on March 22. Wegmans is working with the Monroe County Department of Health and is following its guidance.

"As cases in our communities continue to rise, we extend our concern for everyone, especially our employees and customers directly impacted," a spokesperson said in a statement. "We continue to implement additional preventative measures for sanitation, hygiene and social separation guided by the most up-to-date recommendations from health experts and continue to encourage all employees who they may be sick to stay home."

The company says any employees who think they're displaying COVID-like symptoms are eligible for sick leave.
