Girl Who Made Coronavirus Masks for Nurses Killed in Accident

The 10-year-old girl who made headlines when she sewed coronavirus masks for Texas nurses has died in a tragic ATV accident. Munday resident Lexi Collins died last week and was buried on Monday, her family revealed Tuesday. Further details of the fifth grader's death have not been disclosed. "Lexi was a remarkable child," says Munday City Councilwoman Karen Logan. "She was bright, talented, wise beyond her years, but overall had the most precious spirit I've ever known." The entire country got a glimpse of Collins' spirit when she spent countless hours cutting material and sewing together masks for the nursing staff at Anson General Hospital. Fittingly, mourners who attended her funeral Monday wore protective masks, according to TV station KTXS. When this is over, should the U.S. build a memorial to honor the heroes of the coronavirus pandemic?
