The Bagged Salad You Bought Could Make You Seriously Ill

Health officials are warning people to beware of premixed, bagged salads after at least 122 people have been infected by a parasite. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention reports salad sold by supermarket chains Jewel-Osco, Hy-Vee and ALDI has been found to contain Cyclospora, an intestinal parasite that can lead to a nasty case of diarrhea. Cases have been reported in Illinois, Iowa, Kansas, Missouri, Minnesota, Nebraska and Wisconsin, according to the CDC. Residents who have purchased bagged salad from the aforementioned stores are advised to throw it away, per the CDC.
