911 Operator Allegedly Hung Up on Tops Worker During Mass Shooting

A 911 dispatcher accused of hanging up on a Buffalo supermarket employee calling about the mass shooter has been suspended. Latisha, an assistant manager at Tops Friendly Market, says she called 911 during the attack by the self-professed white supremacist. She said she was whispering because she could hear him close by. "The dispatcher started yelling at me, saying, 'Why are you whispering? You don't have to whisper." Latisha says she had to call her boyfriend to call 911 after the dispatcher hung up on her. Erie County Executive Mark Poloncarz says what happened regarding the call was “inappropriate” and “unacceptable.” County officials say the individual has been put on administrative leave pending a disciplinary hearing and could face termination.
