The police officer husband of one of the teachers slain in the Texas school massacre had desperately tried to rescue his wife who had been shot. Video released shows Ruben Ruiz being detained when he alerted others he got a call from Eva Mireles, 44, who was in room 112 and later died. At least one of the children who called 911 during the shooting pleaded for them to "Send help for my teacher. She is shot, but still alive." Eva Mireles, Irma Garcia and 19 of their students died as police waited more than an hour to storm the adjoining classrooms.
