According to New York corrections officials, the man who shot and killed John Lennon outside his Manhattan apartment building in 1980 has been denied parole for the twelfth time. 67-year-old Mark David Chapman is currently serving a 20-years-to-life sentence in a New York City correctional facility. According to the state Department of Corrections and Community Supervision, Chapman appeared before a parole board at the end of August. Chapman's reasoning for killing the musician was due to selfishness, and because Lennon was very famous. The man's subsequent hearing with the parole board is scheduled for February 2024.
