Today, Google.com is officially 25 years old. Google itself has picked various dates to celebrate its birthday over the years, but the domain was registered on September 15th of 1997. Google began as a search project by Larry Page and Sergey Brin when they were PhD students at Stanford University in 1996. The name "Google" originated from a misspelling of "googol" which refers to the super long number 1 followed by one-hundred zeros.
Google News was launched in 2002 . . . Gmail came in 2004 . . . Google Maps arrived in 2005 . . . Google Chrome was added in 2008 .
