UPDATE: Homicide Victim was Acquitted in 2015 Boys and Girls Club Shooting

UPDATE: Rochester police have confirmed that the man killed in the weekend homicide was 25-year-old Michael Mathis, the same man who was found not guilty five years ago in the 2015 triple homicide outside the Boys and Girls Club.

He was shot and killed late Saturday night in a parking lot at the corner East Avenue and Union Street.

Police haven't made an arrest or nailed down the motive.

They believe Mathis had been involved in an argument, but it's not known if it had anything to do with the Boys and Girls Club homicides.

A co-defendant in the homicides, Jalen Everett, was acquitted at his second trial and was killed in 2019.

A third defendant, Johnny Blackshell is serving a life sentence.

Original story:

There are no arrests in Rochester's second homicide of the year.

A 25-year-old man was gunned down late Saturday night near the East End Bar District.

Officers on patrol there heard the gunfire and found the man in a parking lot at the corner of East Avenue and North Union Street.

He was pronounced dead at the hospital.

Police believe he had been involved in some sort of dispute before the shooting. His name has not been released.
