Atari Snatches Up Rights To More Classic Games

The once-mighty Atari is preparing to stage a comeback. The gaming company has just snatched up the rights to more than 100 classic games from the 1980s and 1990s, including Demolition Racer, Hardball and Bubsy, Atari CEO Wade Rosen reveals. The purchasing spree comes about a month after the company bought the rights to a dozen other titles, including Berzerk and Frenzy. Atari plans to explore merchandising collaborations for the games and create new versions of some of the titles, Rosen says. Others will be updated to work with modern-day consoles, he adds.
