Governor Hochul's Housing Proposal Pulled From State Budget Negotiations

There are reports Governor Hochul's housing construction proposal is no longer part of the state budget negotiations.

Her plan was facing strong opposition from state lawmakers, including powerful Democrats representing the New York City suburbs.

Hochul was proposing a state takeover of local zoning decisions in cities and towns that don't meet her housing construction goals.

Meantime, media reports say a tenant's rights proposal for so-called Good Cause Evictions is also off the table. The state budget is three weeks late.
