Turtle Causes Multi-Vehicle Crash in Florida

A turtle is being blamed for a multi-vehicle crash that occurred in Florida on Tuesday. The accident occurred at 6:45 a.m. in Defuniak Springs, where a motorist traveling along Highway 331 saw a large turtle cross the road, according to the Walton County Sheriff’s Office. The man immediately slammed on his brakes, stopping in the fast lane to let the turtle pass, sheriff’s officials say. After seeing the man stop, several other drivers did the same. However, the driver of an 18-wheeler – who didn’t notice the stopped vehicles until it was too late – crashed into several cars, sparking a chain reaction, deputies say. The exact number of vehicles that were involved in the crash has not been revealed. Although multiple injuries were reported, sheriff’s officials say all of them were minor.
