Two people were arrested in Sodus after an animal cruelty investigation. According to Wayne County Sheriff's deputies, the investigation began after a horse died on property on North Centenary Road. Amanda Mills, 28, and Steven Jernigan, 40, were charged with animal cruelty. Investigators said Mills and Jernigan intentionally caused the death of the horse she owned by depriving it of necessary sustenance, food and drink. Mills was charged with felony aggravated cruelty to animals, Jernigan was charged with overdriving, torturing and injuring animals; failure to provide proper sustenance.
