Television meteorologist Jeremy Kappell appeared on The Brother Wease Show on Tuesday morning to defend himself. Kappell was fired after allegedly using a racial slur on WHEC-TV on Friday. Kappell was describing a photo showing Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial Park when he allegedly uttered the offensive phrase: “Martin Luther C–n King Jr.” Nine years ago, well-known sports talk show personality Mike Greenberg used the exact same phrase by mistake during a broadcast of the Mike & Mike TV and radio show that he co-hosted on ESPN. A meteorologist in Vegas did the exact same thing. Mayor Lovely Warren released a press statement on Sunday calling for Kappell to be fired. Listen to his response to the allegations below:
