Local 9/11 Remembrance Events/Ceremonies

This year marks 20 years since the Sept. 11th terrorist attacks against the United States. In honor and remembrance of the lives lost there are several ceremonies and memorials that will take place around the Rochester area. 

Here's a list of events this weekend: 

Veterans Outreach Center is hosting Operation We Remember, a remembrance ceremony to honor those impacted. It'll be hosted at the Blue Cross Arena on Sept.10 from 10:30 a.m.- 12:00 p.m.

Operation Patriot Let’s Roll: 20th Anniversary 9/11 Tribute Ride & Concert, September 11 at Ontario Beach Park (50 Beach Avenue, Rochester, NY 14612) beginning at 9 a.m. 9:00 a.m. 

2021 marks the 20th anniversary of Operation Patriot’s “Let’s Roll!” 9/11 Tribute Ride and 9/11 itself. Escorted by fire police, military and Patriot Guard Riders

Brockport Volunteer Firefighter’s Association: Fire Station #4, 237 South Main Street, corner of Park Avenue at 8:30 a.m.

A 9/11 Tribute to Wayne County Sheriff Deputy William “Bill” Carr and K-9 Deputy Quigleywill be held on Saturday from 3 p.m. to 4 p.m. in Heritage Park located on Glasgow Street in Clyde. There will be music, speakers, and lastly the dedication of a plaque that will remain in Heritage Park for the years to come. 

Mount Morris Partners for Progress will be holding a dedication ceremony on Saturday at 11 a.m. at the First Responders Mural on Main Street and Federal Street in Mount Morris. A mural honoring first responders was recently completed in the village of Mount Morris. The mural, painted by well-known artist Shawn Dunwoody, was commissioned by Mount Morris Partners for Progress.

Canandaigua Memorial Stair Climb: Canandaigua High School “Braves Field” stadium. Saturday, September 11, 2021, from 12 p.m. to 3 p.m. This event will benefit the National Fallen Firefighters Foundation

“The event will commemorate the 20th anniversary of the 9/11 attacks and 100% of the donations will go to NFFF to provide ongoing support to the families of the brave men and women firefighters and first responders who rushed into the Towers to help the victims,” organizers said. “Participants can choose to do a symbolic stair climb at the Braves Field stadium and give donations in any amount.”

Point Pleasant Fireman’s Association is hosting "20th Anniversary Memorial of 9/11" on Saturday at 55 Ewer Avenue. The ceremony will start at 8:35 a.m. and go until 10:50 a.m. 

Chili 9/11 Ceremony: Chili Fire Department on 9/11/2021 at 6 p.m. 3231 Chili Avenue

The Chili Fire Department Company #1 will be hosting the 20 Anniversary of 9/11. The CFD obtained a beam from the North Tower and has a memorial located at 3231 Chili Avenue, Rochester, NY 14624

Spencerport 9/11 Community Remembrance Ceremony: Spencerport Fire Station No. 1 at 175 Lyell Avenue. Begins at 8:30 a.m. on September 11. Community members are invited to join organizers for light refreshments following the ceremony.

Hometown Hero Banners-Honeoye Falls-Lima-Mendon will host the 20th Anniversary 9/11 remembrance ceremony from 8:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. at 167 North Main Street.
