The family of Matthew Bittner has set up a scholarship in his honor. Bittner was struck and killed over the weekend in Rochester. Matthew was Sally and Matt's only son. Matthew was a junior at Penfield High School. His family says he taught himself to play guitar during COVID and music changed his life. On Friday night, Matthew and his father went to a concert downtown together. Bittner was walking in front of his dad when he was struck by a vehicle. The family is asking for donations to create a scholarship fund in Matthew's name. The staff at Fab Gear set up the Matthew Bittner Scholarship Fund which will allow kids the opportunity to join Fab Gear’s music program that otherwise would not be able to do so. Donations can be made at De’lees Salon on Ridge Road in Webster or Fab Gear on Packets Landing in Fairport.
