My 7-year-old daughter got a school assignment to make a steamboat. Actually, I got an assignment. There are times my second grader can't zip her own jacket. She isn't gathering supplies to build an eighteenth century boat. I will admit that in years past I was more controlling when working on school projects with my children. I am a bit of a perfectionist. This time around I gave my daughter full artistic control. It was difficult for me. She insisted on using her doll's bathtub. The result is exactly what you would expect.
