Man on Parole Shot by Officer Outside Canandaigua Motel

A man on parole was shot multiple times by an officer Tuesday morning outside a motel in Canandaigua. According to Ontario County Sheriff Kevin Henderson, the man on parole had been arrested Monday and then was released. According to Henderson, a parole officer arrived at the motel shortly after 8 a.m., at which point the parolee tried to drive away from the motel.The officer believed the parolee tried to intentionally hit him with his car, according to Henderson. The officer was knocked onto the hood of the car and was on there while the car started speeding away. The parole officer allegedly shot seven rounds, hitting the parolee three times. A car parked outside the motel was riddled with at least six bullet holes.EMS crews arrived on the scene and were able to take the parolee via medical helicopter to Strong Memorial Hospital, where he is currently stable. The officer was taken to F.F. Thompson Hospital and was released shortly afterward.
