Former Rochester police chief La'Ron Singletary has filed a notice of claim against the City of Rochester. The lawsuit comes after a new report found no one at City Hall, including Mayor Lovely Warren, did anything wrong after the death of Daniel Prude in police custody. The investigation was conducted by the city's Office of Public Integrity, the office that investigates fraud, corruption and other problems in the city government. Singletary was relieved from duty in September after Daniel Prude's death came to light. Prude died on March 30, one week after an encounter with police in which he was restrained unclothed, with a spit sock placed over his head. During the encounter, Prude lost consciousness. The incident did not become public knowledge until Sept. 2.
