It was a scary moment during the USC/Gonzaga game as referee Bert Smith collapsed.
ESPN reports that Smith was taken off on a stretcher, but did not go to the hospital and is, thankfully, doing OK today.
For Earl this hits close to home. Smith looks to be in great shape, as is Earl. However, Earl is battling heart failure. He discovered that a few years ago when he went to the doctor after having a shortness of breath when he laid down. Turns out he had been suffering from heart failure for 3 weeks! Thankfully Earl is good to go now and is being treated for it. We hope Bert ends up being OK as well.
